Busara was born in 1993. She is a student at Bangkok Patana School. She enjoys writing, drawing and painting, and has been a student at Smoodtai Art School since 1997. Her other interests include playing the piano, ballet and maths. She has always been very concerned about the plight of the elephants in Thailand and wanted to contribute to their well-being and their happiness. The whole concept of Cha-bah Thai Elephant came into being the day she saw a baby elephant on Silom Road, in the heart of Bangkok’s business district. She was so moved by the tears that she saw in the eyes of the baby elephant that she knew she would try her best to help them stay out of the city and get plenty of food.

Cha-bah Thai Elephant Illustrated book - Children age 6+

Rights: world
English, French, Chinese and Japanese translations available

Discover the story of Cha-bah, a young elephant who lived with her mother in a beautiful forest until one day her happiness was ended when she was taken to the city where she was forced to work. She longed for the joy of her natural home. But what she missed most was her mother. “What happened to my mother?”, she wondered while walking along the hard, polluted roads, and “What will happen to me…?”

Inspired by the sight of a baby elephant lost in the big city of Bangkok, Busara Boussard, a nine-year-old Thai-Belgian girl, tells this enchanting story. She was so moved by the tears in the eyes of the baby elephant on that day that she knew she would try her best to help elephants to stay out of the city and to live peacefully in the forest.

All proceeds from the sale of her book in Thailand go to Treasure Our Elephants Northern Elephant Preservation Fund, Thailand.
